Derby winner out with injury

Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom has been taken out of training for at least two weeks after veterinarians found a “fissure” — a crack at the top of his cannon bone — on his left hind leg, the Daily Racing Form reports. He is expected to race later this year. The injury is believed to have occurred when he stumbled at the start of the Belmont Stakes.
